Lake Martin’s Church in the Pines is one of the more unique places of worship in the state of Alabama. The open air church, one of two such facilities owned by non profit Children’s Harbor, hosts non denominational services every Sunday morning at 9 a.m. through the Spring and Summer.
According to Lake Martin Tourism, the venue has been “deeply embedded in the hearts of hundreds.”
“Each week there are different speakers. Dress is casual, and although some come by land, you are even welcome to pull by by water and listen to the message from your boat.”
The organization noted the variety of events that can be accommodated by the property and also detailed its aesthetic appeal.
“Corporate and church retreats, clubs, family reunions, as well as brides and grooms, looking for a perfect outdoor venue favor the natural environment — being surrounded by trees with a calming rhythm of waves lapping against the beach. Positioned near the Kowaliga Bridge and the shore of Lake Martin, the magnificent suspended wood-beam structure includes room for 850 to sit sheltered, while even more people can be seated on the surrounding lawn.”
Children’s Harbor has published a list of events scheduled for the venue in the coming months.
