Alabama’s Lake Martin is home to one of the most iconic cliff-jumping spots in the entire Southeast. Acapulco Rock at Chimney Rock Island has consistently drawn lakegoers of all ages for decades. The 60-foot jump is in an area where the water is over 150 feet (46 m) deep making it an ideal spot for cliff jumping.
Explore Lake Martin called it “a must-do jump for the adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers.”
Many people often confuse Chimney Rock with Acapulco Rock. Chimney Rock, found on the southern end of Lake Martin near the Ridge Marina, is a few meters from the waterfront and is not situated for jumping.
The area that Acapulco Rock is in was once the Tallapoosa River gorge before Martin Dam was built.
